95th Rifles

Well, I finished some of the Perry minis and I thought I'd see what anyone thought of them. Two are French Cuirasseurs and two are riflemen from the 95th Regiment.

So the day has finally come where I step into the world of Napoleonic Miniatures. I never imaged I would enter this vast and complicated range of miniatures, but recently I have been enthralled by the Perry Brother's and their miniatures. I just recieved in the mail today the Perry Bro's French Cuirassiers and my God they're beautiful! One is posed as if he has been shot and is falling from the saddle. Amazing details, plus they sent me a small set of their plastics line, The British Riflemen. This is great service. I highly recommend this company to any miniature enthusiasts. Here is a link to their website:

I will post again with the finished products!

Greetings to any who stumble upon my first venture into blogdom. My name is Matt Wood and the purpose of this blog will be to display my current miniature works and to hopefully someday advertise and sell them.

A little background on what I do seems only appropriate. I am currently and have been for the last 16 years of my life been a reenactor of the American Civil War. I have belonged to many different organizations, the latest of which is Austin's Battalion, based out of Illinois. This hobby is what spawned my desire to paint miniatures in the first place. Having intricate knowledge of uniforms of the Civil War has made my miniatures well crafted and more realistic than others I have seen. I hope you agree once I post pictures.

I paint for the love of it, although I have in the past sold them to make a small profit. I have never painted for a commission largely due to the lack of time permitted to do such a weighted task. Due to my full time teaching position, my painting schedule is extremely limited during the school year. The current collection I have is the result of several years of work. I have always kept my favorites, but sadly no longer possess my very first minis. I paint only 25mm figures from many different companies. The photos I will later post will be only of this size, in case you are ever curious. I hope you enjoy the future posts and photos.
